The Akrapovic Company was founded in 1990 by Igor Akrapovic. Igor in those days was a tuner as well as having a successful 10 year career as a racer and winning numerous titles in the F1 and SBK classes. Akrapovic has always used quality light weight materials but in 1997 they began to use titanium extensively in their exhaust systems. This material is so light weight and superior to regular steel it dramatically reduced the weight of a full system. To accommodate this move in 97 Akrapovic purchased a unique titanium forming machine in order to produce titanium tubing in their own factory. This machine is still the only one of its type in the world. Akrapovic makes full performance exhaust systems ready to bolt on for most modern sport bike manufacturers today.

The Slip On Series for GSXR1000 with Hexagonal Mufflers and Optional Link Pipes come in either a carbon fiber or titanium with a carbon fiber outlet to match the design of each bike. The inner sleeve as well as the inlet cap are mad of titanium on these slip ons. To obtain a minimum in size and weight the front rosettes are CNC machined from a solid block of aluminum alloy. The link pipe either comes in a stainless steel or titanium version.
The Evolution Line Complete Akrapovic Performance Exhaust System (Hexagonal) is made with hexagonal mufflers which have a perforated inner sleeves and inlet caps made from titanium. The outlet caps are made from carbon fiber to further reduce weight and give the system a more trick look. The joint of the inlet cap is milled on a state-of-the-art CNC machine and connected by high-quality silicon-shielded tempered springs. A carbon fiber muffler clamp is provided for thuis system which is made from a light weight high temperature resistant carbon fiber material. Also included in this system are conical or cylindrical shaped header and link pipes this type of construction is used to increase maximum performance. Crossover tubes maybe installed based on testing. Most models come with preinstalled Lambada connections. A ceramic anti seizing grease is used on this exhaust to prevent corrosion as well as seizing and excessive wear of the titanium parts of the muffler, which can occur due to extreme temperatures and vibrations.
