Motorcycle Mirrors Are Not For Just Looking Behind You.

Custom Motorcycle MirrorWhen it comes to replacing your bike's mirrors with an aftermarket piece not only should you be thinking how to upgrade and get more visibility behind you but now is also the time to decide how to give your motorcycle more personal style. There are quite a few manufacturers that make aftermarket mirrors for bikes. Kuryakyn, Jardine, and Ness Tech are just a few that come to mind. They also come in a variety of materials and styles from the very outlandish to simple chrome or billet.

So what should you look for when replacing your motorcycles mirrors?

For one do not sacrifice visibility for style. You will find that some of the aftermarket mirrors for motorcycles while looking really cool are going to give you less visibility due to the fact that they are smaller or not as tall as the originals. So yes make your ride yours and find something that you like, but at the same time make sure you can still see well enough that you are not creating blind spots that can become potentially dangerous when you are out on your bike.

Live To Ride Bike MirrorI speak from personal experience here. I at one time replaced my  old set of mirrors with a new set and while they really looked cool I never could adjust these quite to my satisfaction and therefore I did notice my comfort level when out riding that particular motorcycle started to dwindle. So after a few months I ended up changing these aftermarket mirrors with another set that  I was able to adjust properly and could see what was going on behind me.

As a avid rider I think the biggest concern for me is being able to see what is coming up on me from behind so I might have the chance to avert a bad situation that I might have just found myself in the middle of if I did not have the ability to see. I think for most riders they feel what is in front of them can be dealt with an averted but getting hit from behind is the biggest danger.

So just remember while a new set of mirrors might look cool, make sure you can still see as well as before. You will find a set that works and can offer you both style and visibility. With as many styles and manufacturers out there to choose from you won't have a problem finding the right set to suit your needs.
